What could be more rewarding than harvesting your own, homegrown rhubarb to make into pies and crumbles? Considered one of the earliest fruits of the year, you can force rhubarb in winter for a crop as early as March.

Ensure you plant rhubarb in rich, moist soil and give it plenty of room to grow. Only the stalks are edible - compost the leaves as these are highly poisonous if consumed.
