DIY/Flat Pack Greenhouses & Growhouses

Self-assembly & flat pack greenhouse kits

Build your own growing space with self-assembly greenhouse kits by Dobbies - from easy-fit shelf kits to DIY timber frames, find your perfect garden project.

Our self-assembly greenhouse kits are the perfect choice for the hands-on gardener looking to create a bespoke growing environment at excellent value. This versatile range spans everything from lightweight, tool-free plastic shelf kits for balconies to substantial flat-pack timber greenhouses and grow houses for larger spaces. Each kit comes with comprehensive instructions and all necessary fixings, allowing you to build a durable, high-performance home for your plants at your own pace.

The requirements vary depending on the model; our compact plastic shelf kits use a simple push-fit system that requires no tools at all. For our larger timber flat-pack greenhouses, you will typically need a basic toolkit including a screwdriver, a spirit level, a rubber mallet, and a step ladder. A full list of required tools is provided in the assembly instructions for each specific model.

While the smaller growhouse kits can be easily managed by one person, we recommend having a second pair of hands for our larger "walk-in" greenhouses. An extra person is particularly helpful when aligning the frame and safely sliding the glazing panels into place, ensuring the structure remains stable and square throughout the build process.

Stability starts with a perfectly level foundation, whether you are building on a patio, decking, or a concrete base. For lightweight plastic-covered kits, we recommend using weights or ground pegs, while larger DIY timber kits should be securely bolted to their base to ensure they remain wind-resistant and structurally sound for years to come.

Our kits offer a range of glazing options to suit your needs and budget. The compact shelf units typically feature reinforced PE or PVC covers for easy handling, while our larger self-assembly structures often use lightweight, shatterproof polycarbonate or toughened safety glass, both of which are designed for straightforward DIY installation.

Assembly time depends on the complexity of the structure and your DIY experience. A tiered plastic growhouse can be ready in 15 minutes, whereas a larger timber greenhouse kit typically takes two people between one and two days to complete. We recommend laying out all components and reading the instructions thoroughly before you begin.

One of the main advantages of our smaller flat-pack kits is their portability; they can be easily dismantled or moved to a different part of the garden as your needs change. However, our larger "big" greenhouse kits are designed to be permanent fixtures and should be sited carefully, as moving them after they have been glazed and anchored is a much more significant task.
