New Year's resolution tree

New Year’s resolutions are a great way to welcome the new year and start some new habits. Anyone can make a new year resolution, and some make more than one! Have a think about some garden New Year’s resolutions that you’d like to make this year. Would you like to grow more fruits and veggies? Perhaps you want to add more colour to your garden. Or maybe you’d like to help cut the grass throughout the year

We’re going to make a beautiful New Year’s Resolution Tree to help you keep track of your 2023 resolutions. This is also a wonderful way to help you complete each of your resolutions. If you’re able to see them each day, you’re more likely to stick to them! Let’s get started…

For this activity, you’ll need::

  • Branches (gathered in the garden or on a woodland walk)
  • Yellow A4 paper (or any colour of your choosing)
  • Pen/pencil
  • Scissors
  • String
  • Vase
  • Glitter (optional

Now it’s time to get crafty!

  • Before you begin, you’ll need to collect the branches for your tree. To do this, you can venture out into your garden or goon a winter woodland walk. Remember to only gather fallen branches already on the ground
  • Place your branches into a large vase or jug and arrange them in any way you’d like
  • Now, cut some leaf shapes out of your paper and write one garden resolution on each leaf. You can add some glitter too if you like!
  • Make a small hole in the top of the leaf and thread through some string
  • Tie your leaves onto your New Year’s Resolution Tree, and you’re done!
