Make your own bird feeder

With winter around the corner and food in short supply, these fun homemade bird feeders are an easy way to keep our feathery friends happy all year round

To get started, you’ll need:

  • Peckish wild bird food
  • Apples
  • Peanut butter
  • String
  • Scissors
  • Knife
  • Chopping board
  • Small bowl

Step 1: Prepare

  • With the help of an adult, slice the apples into rings and cut out the core
  • Use your scissors to cut a length of string, and thread it
    through the hole in the middle. Then tie it at the top to create a loop

Step 2: Add a nutty treat

  • Spread peanut butter on the lower half of your apple rings
  • With the Peckish bird food in a small bowl, dunk your apple rings the seed mix so it sticks to the peanut butter

Step 3: Feed the birds

  • Hang your bird feeders around your garden and wait for peckish birds to arrive
