The perfect statement tree for your borders, Magnolias bloom freely for a short time in spring, before they've even produced any leaves! Magnolia Stellata Alba produces white, lightly scented blooms. Magnolias tend to be slow growing making them great for small or compact gardens.

Despite their elegant appearance, magnolias are fairly hardy - they will survive sub-zero temperatures and is pretty happy in most soils although a slightly acidic pH is preferred.
