Most of our garden cushions are "showerproof," meaning they are treated with a water-resistant coating that allows light rain to bead off the surface. However, they are not fully waterproof and should not be left out in heavy downpours or submerged. To keep them looking their best, we recommend bringing your cushions indoors, or storing them in your garden shed or outdoor storage box, when rain is forecast or during the winter months.
For small spills, a quick wipe with a damp cloth and mild soapy water is usually sufficient. Many of our garden cushions feature removable covers with zip fastenings, which can be hand-washed or machine-washed on a cool, gentle cycle (always check the individual care label first). To maintain the water-resistant coating, avoid using harsh detergents or tumble drying; instead, allow the covers to air-dry naturally.
Many of our cushions come with integrated fabric ties or "stay-put" straps that can be easily fastened to the frame of your garden furniture. If your chosen cushions don't have ties, you can use a simple piece of non-slip rug underlay cut to size and placed between the seat and the cushion to help keep it securely in place during use.
Our outdoor cushions are made from UV-resistant fabrics designed to withstand the bleaching effects of direct sunlight for longer than standard indoor fabrics. However, even the toughest materials can eventually fade over several years of intense exposure. To maximise the vibrancy of your cushions, we suggest turning them over regularly and storing them in the shade or indoors when they aren't being used.
To prevent damp and mildew, cushions should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated space during the colder months. A waterproof garden storage box is a popular choice, but for the best protection, we recommend placing them in a breathable cushion storage bag and keeping them in a shed, garage, or attic. Ensure the cushions are completely dry before packing them away to avoid any unpleasant odours.
To find the perfect fit, measure the width and depth of the seat area of your chair or sofa. For back cushions, measure the height from the seat to the top of the frame. It is often better to choose a cushion that is slightly smaller than the frame rather than too large, as this prevents the fabric from bunching or hanging over the edges, ensuring a neat and comfortable finish.
