1. Set up your olympic arena
Find a safe, grassy area in your garden or a local park. Mark out different event spaces using cones, ropes, or even chalk. You could also make DIY medals for the winners and an Olympic Torch to carry in as the Games begin!
2: Choose your events
Pick some fun grass-friendly games for your Lawn Olympics, such as:
- Sack Race – Hop to the finish line in a pillowcase
- Egg and Spoon Race – Try not to drop the egg
- Tug of War – Grab a rope and test your strength
- Long Jump – See who can jump the furthest on the grass
- Running Races – Set different distances to see who wins
3: Get everyone ready to compete
You can split into teams or compete individually. Why not pick countries to represent out of a hat or make up your own imaginary countries?
4: Keep score & cheer each other on
Use a simple scoreboard to track points, but remember, having fun is more important than winning! Remember to cheer everyone on.
5: Celebrate with a medal ceremony
At the end, you can hold a ceremony to hand out medals or certificates. Don't forget to hand out some snacks, too.
Now, grab your sports kit and get ready for the Lawn Olympics!
