What can I do in my garden in September?
Our work isn't done, though. A cure is in sight. And only research will get us there faster. This World Alzheimer's Month, Alzheimer’s Research UK has launched their new film, 'The First One', voiced by, Aimee Lou Wood. The film highlights that as dementia research gains momentum, the first person to be cured of the disease could be alive today.
At Dobbies, we've launched a brand-new, limited-edition spring bulb collection in-store, where every £5 from each £15 pack sold will be donated to ARUK.
The collection includes four, carefully selected varieties of blubs: Narcissus Bridal Crown, Tulip Vogue, Hyacinth Cina Pink, and Muscari Blue Moon. When they bloom next spring, their colour and fragrance will bring plenty of life to the garden.
The month will also help raise awareness of Alzheimer’s Research UK’s Think Brain Health campaign, which encourages people to love their heart, stay sharp and keep connected.
Gardening can support all three, helping people stay active, learn new skills and connect with others, while scented planting can also create an engaging multi-sensory experience.
You might also see fundraising activity in our stores when you visit this month, with staff taking part in walking and cycling challenges, hosting plant bingo and other table-top sales. You'll also still be able to donate 25p at the till when you checkout in-store at our garden centres as part of our Pennies partnership, as well as opting to add a donation amount to your event bookings online.
