How to grow Dahlias

Dahlias are the all-purpose summer flowers. With so many colours and flower shapes to choose from, they are ideal whether you want to brighten up your borders, or to have a house full of cut flowers.

Plants
  • Dahlias can be planted directly into your borders
  • Dig your Dahlias in compost & apply liquid fertiliser
  • Do not plant in frosty weather
  • Plant the right kind – check the height & flower size
  • Protect plants from snails & slugs
  • For larger blooms, pinch outside buds – leaving only one central bud per stem
  • Be sure to water regularly in dry weather
