Borage is a versatile plant. Its hairy, ovate leaves have a cool, cucumber taste when picked young and are great for adding to salads or refreshing cold drinks. It is easy to grow in well-drained soil and will happily self seed at the end of the season.

Borage has been recognised as a RHS Plant for Pollinators and its star-shaped purple blooms are a particular favourite of bees. Because bees love it, it is often worth planting Borage next to your vegetable patch or soft fruits so that the bees will pollinate your crops.
