The main advantages are speed, cleanliness, and control. A gas BBQ reaches cooking temperature in around 10 to 15 minutes and allows you to adjust the heat instantly using the control knobs. There is no messy ash to clear up afterwards, making it the ideal choice for spontaneous midweek grilling or large garden parties where consistent heat is essential.

A 2-burner model is typically plenty for small families or couples. However, 3 or 4 burners provide more versatility, allowing you to create different "heat zones" for cooking various foods simultaneously. If you enjoy hosting larger gatherings or want to try "indirect" roasting, a larger 4-to-6 burner grill offers the space and flexibility required for professional results

A side burner is an incredibly handy feature that effectively turns your BBQ into a full outdoor kitchen. It allows you to fry onions, simmer sauces, or boil new potatoes in a pan alongside your main grill. This means you can prepare your entire meal outside without having to run back and forth to the kitchen.

While many modern gas canisters (like Calor Patio Gas) don't have a built-in gauge, you can check the level by carefully pouring warm water down the side of the bottle; the cold gas inside will cause condensation to form at the fuel level. Some premium gas BBQs also feature an integrated weighing scale or a magnetic level indicator to give you a clearer idea of when it’s time for a refill.

Flare-ups are usually caused by fat or oil dripping onto the burners. Most of our gas BBQs feature "flavouriser bars" or flame tamers that sit above the burners to catch these drippings, vaporising them into smokey flavour while protecting the jets. To minimise flare-ups, keep your grill clean, trim excess fat from meats, and avoid over-oiling your food before placing it on the grates.

Yes, our gas BBQs are built to be weather-resistant, but the British winter can still take its toll. We strongly recommend using a high-quality, fitted BBQ cover to protect the ignition system and metalwork from damp and frost. Always ensure the gas bottle is turned off at the regulator when not in use, and consider storing the grill in a shed or garage during the harshest winter months.
