PollinatorAward

Compact form with bronze/green leaves and deep purple flowers

A small shrub happy at the front of a border or in a large container on a sunny patio. Give this plant a sheltered position so that bees can enjoy the flowers. It looks its best in May and early June when rich pink flowers appear producing a lovely contrast with the deep purple leaves.

Where?

Full sun and any good garden soil is fine as long as its not waterlogged in winter.

How?

Water regularly after planting until established. Trim to shape after flowering if needed. Use a good quality potting compost if planting in a container.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
