Vinca minor Azurea Flore Pleno

GardenAward

Lesser Periwinkle

Double flowers in sky blue

The frilly, semi double, china blue flowers are often the first to appear in the spring garden. Periwinkles have a long flowering season from late winter until late spring with the odd flower through the summer months. Deep green, pointed leaves frame the flowers perfectly.

Where?

This is ideal ground cover in sun or shade and any garden soil. The long, trailing stems root as they touch the ground - good for keeping weeds away in awkward areas of the garden. This plant will also brighten a winter container or hanging basket.

How?

Water well after planting and occasionally in dry weather, until established. Trim back as needed.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
