An unusual azalea that offers year round structure and colour in the garden. In spring it produces masses of deep red flowers which are offset by dark green foliage. In the winter months its foliage then turn and deep burgundy red coulour. Compact and slow growing.

Its small size and slow gowing nature makes it ideal for growing in containers or rockeries.

How?

To thrive it needs acid soil conditions so when planting in a container use a top quality ericaceous compost.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. If planting in a bed or border test the soil to establish its pH. If the soil is too alkali it is best to grow your plant in a container. In either case prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig ericaceous compost into the base of the hole, if planting in a container use ericaceous compost to fill the pot. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
