Jerusalem Sage'

Bright yellow flowers carried over silver foliage

With its elongated, spiny leaves and bright yellow flowers, Jerusalem Sage creates a good show in the early Summer. It pushes forth stems that hold leaves and flowers up to around eight inches in height. Seed heads develop that stay intact providing added garden interest through Autumn and Winter.

Where?

It needs full sunlight and a protected position to thrive. It does well in most soil types providing its well-drained.

How?

Plant in the garden at the border front or else use a container.

Cuttings can be taken in late Summer or it can be grown by seed from existing plants in early Spring.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
