Luma apiculata Glanleam Gold

Evergreen shrub with reddish peeling bark and variegated foliage

A medium sized evergreen shrub, with neat cream-edged leaves that are tinged pink when young and attractively peeling, cinnamon-coloured bark. The small white buttercup-like flowers appear during the late summer and autumn. Fleshy, dark fruit will appear after flowering.

It loves full sun or part shade. It can provide an interesting backdrop to other plants, or act as a screen.

Plant in well drained soil.

This will grow up to four metres high and wide in maturity.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
