Aromatic foliage and deep red flowers in spring

This is a medium-sized dense, evergreen shrub, with deep red double flowers and narrow, dark green leaves. It flowers freely from late spring to summer.

Where?

It is best grown in full sun or light shade. It is frost hardy but should be placed in a sheltered spot. It is a wonderful plant for a sunny border, or against a south facing wall and looks striking planted in a large container.

How?

This plant grows well in any well-drained soil. Water well until it is established.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
