French Lavender

Grey-green foliage and typical French lavender flowers

An impressive new variety of French lavender with upright stems up to 60cm (2ft) and narrow, very aromatic grey-green leaves. The flowerheads are huge and densely packed with tiny purple flowers, topped with deep lilac wings. The blooms are very attractive to bees and butterflies and will be buzzing with life throughout summer. A drought tolerant plant, perfect for hot, dry situations.


Plant in full sun in a warm and sheltered position. Excellent for a pot or container on a sunny patio or balcony.


Any well-drained soil that is not wet in winter. Cover soil surface with grit or gravel to avoid winter wet and protect with horticultural fleece if necessary. Dead head regularly to encourage re-blooming.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
