Lavandula Regal Splendour

French Lavender

Dark purple 'winged' and scented flowers

A sturdy variety of French Lavender with deep purple flowers topped with inky purple tufts. Valued for their long flowering season, from summer until autumn. These enduring plants have grey green leaves that are very aromatic. Plant as a low hedge or near a path where the leaves can be rubbed to release their scent.

Where?

Happiest in full sun and in well drained soil or a container in a sunny spot. Also good for seaside gardens.

How?

Good drainage is key so dig grit into the planting hole to help if your soil is heavy and wet in winter. Use loam based compost mixed with course grit for containers and provide shelter from cold winds. Trim lightly after flowering to maintain shape.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
