Hydrangea macrophylla Snow

Lacecap hydrangea

Stunning white flowers whatever soil type you have

‘Snow’ is a delightful new lacecap hydrangea with large, fresh-green leaves on strong stems. The flowerheads are full, with plentiful pure white florets forming a foamy ring around a large flattened cluster of tiny blue fertile florets. The colour is consistent regardless of soil type, except for the central florets which may be mauve on alkaline soils. It is a long-term garden plants which give many years of pleasure for little attention.

Where?

Hydrangeas grow in sun or shade but are best in semi shade in bed or borders. Or grow them as permanent subjects in pots.

How?

Grow in well-drained, moist, fertile soil. Water regularly in dry conditions. Leave flower heads over winter. Cut back to a pair of fat buds below the faded flowers in early spring.

Hydrangeas make very long lasting cut flowers. The blooms can be dried for winter floral decoration

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
