Shrubby Veronica

Masses of lilac-pink flowers

This compact shrub has attractive leaves that darken through the colder winter and spring months. The short spikes of purple flowers will attract butterflies and bees throughout the summer.

Where?

A highly decorative small shrub for beds, borders and containers, and it is great for coastal gardens. It enjoys a spot in full sun or partial shade but shelter it from strong winds, especially during winter.

How?

It prefers a slightly alkaline, well-drained soil.

This plant is a new introduction and part of a series of hebes including 'Claret Crush', Burgundy Blush', and 'Ruby Port'.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
