Fuchsia Lady Boothby

Hardy Fuchsia

Vigorous climbing variety with red and purple flowers

A vigorous hardy Fuchsia that is covered in hanging red and purple flowers in the summer and autumn.

Where?

Any spot in full sun partial shade. It will happily grow up and through a trellis, fence or other suitable support, and is perfect for containers or a mixed border.

How?

It is easy to grow, and enjoys any fertile, well-drained soil that does not dry out in summer or become too wet in winter. Cut it back in spring and cover the ground around it with well-rotted garden compost to encourage healthy new shoots.

This fuchsia was bred from an original Brazilian species in 1939 and named after the founder of the British Fuchsia Society.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
