Fuchsia Firecracker

Amazing grey, green and pink foliage and red flowers

An upright, arching shrub with green leaves dappled with cream and pink that bloom in the summer into tubular flowers of striking, vibrant pinks and oranges.

Where?

Happy in a sunny yet sheltered location in a bed or a border during the summer but must spend the winters indoors.

How?

Can live in most moist and well drained soils but is not frost resistant and so should be kept in a heated environment such as a greenhouse during the winter.

Its brilliant flowers wowed the gardening world at the 1999 Hampton Court Palace flower show.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
