The beautiful oval shaped green and golden leaves of this bushy evergreen spindle make it a perfect year round attraction for almost any spot in your garden.

Where?

The leaves look at their best when grown in the sun, but it isn’t afraid of being grown in the shade and can tolerate windy or exposed positions and the cold.

How?

Can be grown in most well drained, moist soils and requires very little maintenance.

This native of Japan is perfect for town gardens and coastal areas. It can grow as high as two meters but is very accepting of trimming. Can be susceptible to powdery mildew.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
