An award winning variety of Spindle, a British native shrub, with rosy pink seed capsules that open to reveal orange seeds, combining beautifully with the rich scarlet leaves before they fall in late autumn.

Where?

Ideal for mixed shrub borders, or as a specimen plant in sun or light shade. Adds great structure to a winter themed border.

How?

in any well-drained, preferably chalky soil. The gorgeous autumn display will last longer in a sunny spot with some shelter from strong winds. Lightly cut back in spring to encourage bushy growth.

Usually grown as a shrub it can be trained as a small weeping tree

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
