Escallonia Red Carpet

Dark green foliage and masses of dark red flowers

As a compact, vigorous, and evergreen shrub, Red Carpet is known for its flourishing tubular deep red flowers with white heart and ground covering nature.

This spreading shrub grows well in full sunlight, with partial shade but should be protected from harsh winds. It is ideal for hedging, screens, and informal gardens due to its low maintenance quality.

Escallonia Red Carpet prefers moist but well-drained soil, with its flowering peak occurring in the month of June.

This hardy evergreen shrub has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
