A decorative ground cover

This low growing evergreen hugs the ground and makes a weed suppressing mat in no time. In early spring and summer its rounded leaves are the perfect backdrop to single white flowers that smother the branches. These are adored by bees and their work will result in plenty of bright red berries through the autumn. These are valuable food for birds and small mammals as the prepare for the winter months.

Easy to grow and happy in sun or shade. An excellent plant for difficult sites such as steep banks or areas little maintenance will be carried out.

Happy in any soil as long as it is not too wet in winter Water occasionally in dry conditions until the plant has established. trim in early spring to keep tidy and shape if necessary.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
