Cordyline australis Pink Passion Seipin

Cabbage Palm

Exotic pink edged spiky foliage

Everyone will love this beautiful palm when they see it. The shocking pink edges to the long, arching deep-purple leaves make this a plant to remember. Its hot colours and tropical appearance make it a winner through the summer months - even in part shade where it is perfectly happy. Scented flowers produced on mature specimens.

Best grown in a large container so that the plant can be moved under cover during hard winter weather. In milder areas of the country, choose a sunny, sheltered spot and well-drained soil.

When growing in the ground, warp it in horticultural fleece during severe weather. Add grit to the planting hole if the soil is heavy to stop the roots getting waterlogged in winter.

Cordyline Pink Passion is a patented variety of Cordyline with the breeder's name of 'Seipin'.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
