Cistus x pulverulentus Sunset

Rock Rose

Grey-Green foliage and bright pink paper like flowers

A beautiful evergreen shrub with pointed, grey-green leaves that set off deep-pink flowers. These are like single roses giving the plant the common name of Rock Rose. Flowering in summer, the plant is covered in gorgeous blooms with tissue-like petals. Each flower lasts a single day before the petals fall to the ground like confetti and more buds open to replace them.

Where?

Happy in a well-drained, sunny spot, Cistus 'Silver Pink' is also perfect for seaside gardens.

How?

Plant in any free-draining soil and trim lightly after flowering to remove the seed heads and encourage new growth.

Originally from the Mediterranean, Cistus don't mind droughts and aren't bothered by the scorching sun and salt winds of exposed seaside gardens.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
