Cistus x argenteus Silver Pink

Rock Rose

Masses of delicate pink flowers and very drought tolerant

Bewitching when in flower this Rock Rose has soft, pointed sage-green leaves that make a low-growing, evergreen mound. In summer beautiful rose-pink flowers appear - each with a fluffy golden-yellow centre.

Where?

Plant in full sun and well-drained soil. Cistus are happy in very dry conditions once established. An excellent choice for coastal gardens or for growing on a sunny bank.

How?

Easy to grow - just trim after flowering to remove the faded flower spikes and encourage new growth for the following year.

Originally from the Mediterranean, Cistus don't mind droughts and aren't bothered by the scorching sun and salt winds of exposed seaside gardens.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
