Butterfly Bush

A small variety of Buddleja perfect for small gardens and patios

A small variety of Butterfly Bush, so ideal where space is limited. The gently arching stems have silvery grey leaves that set off the fat, fragrant spikes of rich blue flowers. These cover the plants through the summer and are very attractive to many butterfly species.

Where?

Choose a sunny, sheltered spot at the back of a border, in any well-drained soil.

How?

Water well until established. Cut back hard in late spring each year to encourage vigorous new flowering branches.

Buddleja was previously known as Buddleia

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
