Berberis thunbergii Pow-Wow

Unusual dwarf column shaped shrub with bright lime coloured foliage

A beautiful Barberry that is a kaleidoscope of colours through the year. Bright red shoots emerge in spring and the leaves soon turn to golden yellow. In autumn the whole plant becomes a column of deep orange before the leaves fall to reveal a delicate twiggy silhouette.

For the most vibrant leaf colour plant in a sunny position. Will tolerate partial shade in any soil. Great for brightening up a border and happy in a container.

Keep will watered until established. Use good quality loam based compost for containers. Trim to shape in spring if needed.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
