David Austin Rose Gertrude Jekyll®

Fragrant blooms throughout the Summer and Autumn

Perfect little scrolled buds open into the most beautiful, large, rosette-shaped flowers of rich glowing pink. Gertrude Jekyll® is highly regarded for its strong and quintessential Old Rose fragrance and character. This healthy and very reliable variety is always one of the first English Roses to start flowering and its vigorous habit is well suited to the middle or the back of the border. Very popular variety which holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Recommended.

Very reliable rose which forms a medium-sized, upright shrub with vigorous and robust growth. It also makes a wonderfull short climber when grown on a warm wall.

Gertrude Jekyll was one of the most famous and influencial garden designers and authors of her time, creating over 400 beautiful gardens across the UK, Europe and America. Her style still has a profound effect on English gardens today and she was a strong advocate of incorporating roses into mixed borders. She was awarded the RHS Victoria Medal of Honour for services to horticulture.

    Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.

Planting site Patio Container, Flower Border & Beds, Cottage Garden, Informal Garden, City Garden, Courtyard Garden.
