David Austin Rose Fighting Temeraire®

Fragrant blooms throughout the Summer and Autumn

When fully open, the beautiful flowers of 'Fighting Temeraire®' are very large at 4-5" across. Buds, tipped with red, gradually unfurl to reveal rich apricot blooms, with an area of yellow at the centre. Each semi-double bloom is made up of ten loosely aranged petals, paling to soft apricot-yellow as they mature. The fragrance is medium strong, very fruity, with a strong element of lemon zest. Exceptionally free flowering with attractive bronze young foliage which combine to great effect. Vigorous, healthy variety well suited to the mixed border, using its gorgeous colour to draw the eye through the garden.

Attractive spreading shrub suited to the middle or back of the border.

Named after the painting by the landscape painter, watercolourist and printmaker JMW Turner, dated 1839, for the Turner Contempoary Gallery in Kent.

    Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.

Planting site Patio Container, Flower Border & Beds, Cottage Garden, Informal Garden, City Garden, Courtyard Garden.
