This attractive compact variety has funnel-shaped, pure white fragrant flowers and small hairy leaves. Snow Lady is covered in flowers in April.

Where?

Happy in sun or part shade and ideal for growing at the front of a border, in a woodland style setting or rock garden. A good choice for a patio container.

How?

An acid loving plant that needs a lime-free soil, or create a raised bed and fill with ericaceous compost specially formulated for acid loving plants. If planting in a container use ericaceous compost. Remove faded flowers to keep tidy.

Rhododendron Snow Lady was hybridised in the Pacific Northwest and was bred from rhododendron leucapis - a native of Tibet and Yunnan, China.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. If planting in a bed or border test the soil to establish its pH. If the soil is too alkali it is best to grow your plant in a container. In either case prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig ericaceous compost into the base of the hole, if planting in a container use ericaceous compost to fill the pot. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
