Rhododendron Moerheim

GardenAward

Dwarf Rhododendron

Award winning variety

A compact, spreading shrub that is covered in beautiful clusters of lilac-violet flowers from early to mid-spring. The glossy oval dark green leaves turn maroon in winter, adding to its charm.

Where?

This dwarf rhododendron is ideal in a container, planted at the front of a border, or on a slope and looks great in cottage and informal gardens. It can be located in a sheltered spot, in full sun or partial shade. Protect the flowers from frost damage.

How?

This plant loves any type of soil that is acidic, so for best results use a good amount of ericaceous compost when planting.

Rhododendron Dwarf Moerheim has been awarded The Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. If planting in a bed or border test the soil to establish its pH. If the soil is too alkali it is best to grow your plant in a container. In either case prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig ericaceous compost into the base of the hole, if planting in a container use ericaceous compost to fill the pot. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
