Prunus cerasifera Crimson Pointe

Japanese flowering cherry

Unique upright flowering cherry

A perfect tree for a small space. With branches that grow upwards and stay as a slender column, this tree can be planted to give height in a border or as a specimen in a lawn. The flowers are seen in late spring and are a great contrast to the new bronze leaves.

Where?

Choose a sunny site, away from cold winds and plant in soil that isn't too dry in summer.

How?

Add well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil before planting and stake your tree until the roots are established. Feed with a suitable fertiliser each spring.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
