Parsley Flat Leafed

Petroselinum crispumvar. eapolitanum

Easy to grow and fully hardy

A must have herb for the keen cook. This fast growing herb is tasty, nutritious and easy to grow. The robust dark green leaves form attractive fern-like mounds.

Use as a contrast to colourful perennials in beds and borders. Equally at home in pots. Happy in sun part shade.

Best in moist but well-drained soil. Harvest the young leaves as required and they will be replaced by fresh new shoots. Parsley is biennial which means it will live for two years. Use a good quality general purpose compost for container growing.

Add the leaves to flavour and garnish soups, sauces, stuffing and salads.

Planting instructions

Choose a container, with drainage holes at least twice the size of the one the plant is currently growing in. Place stones, broken up flowerpots or polystyrene in a thin layer over the holes to help with drainage. Place a layer of multi-purpose compost on top. Remove the pot and position the plant so the top of the rootball sits 2.5cm below the rim of the pot. Fill around the rootball with compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered especially through dry spells.

Planting site Patio container, Cottage garden, Informal garden, Flower border and beds
