Salvia pratensis Rhapsody In Blue

Meadow Sage

Ideal for a dry location

Brilliant deep violet-blue flowers adorn these bushy compact plants all through summer. Easy to grow, and with aromatic leaves as a bonus, this salvia is worthy of a place in any garden.

Where?

Happy in a sunny position, anywhere a brilliant splash of colour is needed, use in a bed, border, gravel garden or raised bed. Try growing in container.

How?

Best in a well-drained soil. Cut back the flower spikes as they fade to encourage more flowers well into the autumn.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
