Salvia Amistad

Vigorous variety and long flowering

A fantastic salvia with tall dark stems clothed with aromatic glossy green leaves and spikes of rich purple flowers that emerge from deep black buds. This salvia has a long flowering period from summer through autumn and the flowers are loved by bees.

Where?

A tall striking plant ideal for a large container or the back of a border in sun or light shade.

How?

Loves a rich well-drained soil. To extend the flowering season remove the old flower spikes as they fade. Cut down in autumn once flowering is over, and mulch with well-rotted compost.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
