Primula beesiana

GardenAward

Beeu2019s Primrose

Perfect for a shady spot

A handsome candelabra Primula with tiers of purple-red flowers growing on upright stems above crinkly, textured leaves. The flowers are exceptionally striking, especially if several plants are grouped together. Works well planted alongside ferns. W here? Loves a lightly shaded damp, sheltered spot, ideal in a woodland border, or pond side planting.

How?

Prefers a rich, moist soil. Enrich the soil with organic matter before planting - home made garden compost or well rotted manure is fine. Keep well watered.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
