Polemonium Heaven Scent

Jacobu2019s Ladder

Beautifully scented

A charming variety with loose clusters of lightly scented, blue flowers which seem to float above a lush mound of attractive fern-like leaves. The dark green leaves develop purple-bronze tints and make a lovely foil for the flowers, which appear in the spring and summer.

Where?

Likes a lightly shaded position, although happy in a sunnier spot if kept well watered. Ideal in a bed or a border, and looks fabulous in a woodland garden or a container.

How?

Best in a moist, well drained soil. Remove faded flowers to encourage more. Use a good quality potting compost for container growing.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
