Polemonium caeruleum Brise d'Anjou Blanjou

PollinatorAward

Jacobu2019s Ladder

A classic addition to any perennial herbaceous border

A clump forming plant noted for its outstanding fern-like leaves that are handsomely edged with cream. As if that wasn’t enough there are also beautiful bell-shaped flowers to enjoy from late spring into the summer.

Where?

Likes a lightly shaded position, although happy in a sunnier spot if kept well watered. Ideal in a bed or a border, and looks fabulous in a woodland garden or a container.

How?

Best in a moist, well drained soil. Remove faded flowers to encourage more. Use a good quality potting compost for container growing.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
