Phlox divaricata Clouds of Perfume

GardenAward

Heady scent best appreciated near a path or walkway

This sweetly scented variety makes a spreading mound of bright green leaves which makes a lovely soft background for the profusion of small ice blue flowers in summer.

Where?

Ideal for a bed or use in a cottage-style garden. To fully appreciate their fragrance, plant near entranceways or pathways. Grow in a sunny, sheltered spot or in light shade and take care to shelter from cold, drying winter winds.

How?

Enjoys a rich, fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Enrich the soil with organic matter before planting - home made garden compost or well rotted manure is fine.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
