Clouds of delicate blooms produced late in the summer

A very showy variety of this popular perennial which blooms in flushes from mid-summer through to late autumn. Upright stems clothed in oblong, bright green leaves are topped with stocky spikes of salmon-pink flowers with white throats. Growing to 45cm (18ins) it is perfect for the front of a border with other perennials and shrubs; also a good choice for summer colour on the patio. An evergreen, it maintains foliage interest through the winter months.

Where?

Plant in full sun or semi-shade in beds and borders. Thrives almost anywhere. Suitable for pots and containers.

How?

Remove flower spikes when the blooms have faded. Cut back dead and damage stems in late winter; shorten others by one third. If cut back to ground level flowering is late the following season. No support required.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
