Papaver orientale Princess Victoria Louise, 1ltr

PollinatorAward

Oriental Poppy

Historic variety - a great all rounder

Drifts of delicate salmon-pink flowers make this beautiful Poppy a worthy addition to your garden. The flowers float on tall stems above clumps of silvery green leaves.

Where?

Happiest in full sun where this plant will slowly spread each year to make a long lived clump.

How?

Best in a well drained soil. Add some coarse grit or sand to the base of the planting hole if your soil is heavy and wet in winter to help with drainage. Cut the plant to the ground after the flowers have faded to encourage more of the handsome leaves.

This elegant Poppy is named after one of the daughters of Kaiser Wilhelm II of the German Royal family.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
