Shasta Daisy

Flowers open bright yellow then fade to white

The large daisies on this low growing plant have a bright yellow centre which is loved by bees. The flowers open canary yellow and age to creamy white. Once they have faded, many more follow and this plant will flower through summer and into the autumn months.

Where?

Give this one pride of place at the front of a sunny border or in a container in a sunny spot on your patio.

How?

Plant in any good garden soil or use loam based compost for container growing. Feed plants in containers with a suitable liquid feed once a week through the summer. Remove faded flowers through the summer to encourage more and cut back old growth in spring once new leaves are seen.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
