Dead Nettle

Perfect for a shady spot

A vibrant evergreen plant which will light up a shady spot with its silver leaves and beautiful purple flowers which appear in late spring. The flowers are a favourite with bees. Excellent low maintenance ground cover.

Where?

Happiest in a shady spot where the leaves will not be harmed by hot summer sun.

How?

Best in any moist soil. Enrich the soil before planting by adding organic matter - home made garden compost or well rotted manure is fine. Prune the plant to tidy if required in summer.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
