Iris Party Dress

Bearded Iris

Perfect for a sunny spot

Glowing peach coloured blooms have a delicate scent and are seen in early summer. A real classic for the middle of a cottage garden border where it can be left undisturbed for many years.

Where?

Happiest in full sun where this plant can sunbathe undisturbed for years. Easy to grow in the middle of a border.

How?

Best in a very well drained soil. Add grit or coarse sand to the base of the planting hole and plant so that the rhizomes - roots - are on the surface of the soil. Remove dead flower spikes and trim the leaves by two thirds in summer to tidy them.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
