Geranium Elke

Cranesbill

Bright pink flowers produced every year

A superb ground covering variety with low spreading mounds of fern-like leaves which are a lovely backdrop for the bright neon-pink, veined flowers throughout the summer. The base of the petals gradually fade to white at the edges creating an attractive two-toned effect. The leaves turn bronzy-red in autumn.

Where?

Happy in sun or partial shade. Ideal for a rock garden, edging a border or growing in a container.

How?

Fertile, well-drained soil is best, enrich the soil with organic matter before planting - home made garden compost or well rotted manure is fine. Water well until established. Trim back lightly after flowering in summer to revitalise foliage and encourage a second flush of flowers.

An easy-to-grow plant, this Cranesbill is an outstanding Belgian introduction.

Planting instructions

Water the plant in its pot thoroughly before planting – give it a good soaking. Prepare the area by digging a hole twice the size of the pot. Dig compost into the base of the hole. Remove the pot and position the plant in the hole, with the top of the rootball about level with the surrounding soil. Refill the planting hole with a mixture of garden soil and compost, firming as you go. Water in well and keep well watered during the plant's first year.
